Lenticular Print Applications

Set your eyes on the third dimension and bring your images to life.

What Is a 3D Lenticular Print

Much like an 3D hologram, a 3D print provides you the visual ability to perceive the world in 3 dimensions, just like with 3D films, but without the need of 3D glasses.

See demo here: http://softmotion3d.com/how-3d-lenticular-works.html

A 3D Lenticular Print brings images to life by creating the illusion of depth, on a flat 1/8’’ optically clear acrylic substrate. See 3D print samples below:

What Is A Lenticular Animated Graphic

An Animated Lenticular Print is produced with a series of images coming together to create seamless motion. The illusion of motion comes from either a selection of digital betacam or sequential still images.

It brings images to life, by creating the motion as you walk by the flat 1/8’’ optically clear acrylic substrate. See animation print sample below:

  • Softmotion 3D offers Animated Lenticular Print that creates a seamless motion between still images
  • Lenticular Animated Graphic are a series of images coming together to create seamless motion

How It Works

Design Guide & Specs

  • For a 3D rendering, provide a 20 frames 3D sequence at 300 DPI actual size. See GUIDELINES below.
  • File format accepted are JPEG and TIFF only.
  • We will produce your images in a week or less and ship via FedEx 2 days or better. Shipping cost is the same for one or multiple prints.

File Uploading

In order to optimize print quality and avoid deception, please see the GUIDELINES below before uploading any files.

Guidelines

Lenticular static 3D Print:

  • Layered Artwork
    • Layer a 2D image with each element in its own layer using the same size and resolution. For example, if your concept has 3 cars, give each car its own complete layer.
    • Produce at least 3 layers: Background, Middle Ground and Foreground and save files in the TIFF format, at 300 DPI. Always add 1/8’’bleed.
    • More layers will provide a more natural render. Place each layer in the final position: Background, Middleground and Foreground.
    • If your concept contains layers with text and logos, they should be placed closer to the key plane ( Middle layer ) to avoid blurriness and promote better legibility.
    • Avoid solid color background and replace with a textured background to increase depth perception.
    • Brighter colors will render much better and enhance the 3D illusion. However, B & W subjects will also work fine if the background is textured.
    • Use CMYK to minimize color shift.
    • Avoid serif, italic and fancy fonts. Very fine font size, under 12 pts, will reduce readability.
    • No text, logos or illustrations within ½’’ from all edges.

    VERY IMPORTANT!

In order to avoid any gaps or voids while the layers are in motion on the 3D print, it is important that the file is one inch wider than the width of the final print. This is referred to as a 3D margin.

  • 3D IMAGE SEQUENCE & 3D Photography
    • Provide a minimum of 24 views for optimal impact at 300 DPI with 1/8’’ bleed. All views needs to be identical sizes.
    • As a rule of thumb, use one degree distance between views. That applies to both 3D software and 3d photography.
    • Place the views in their sort order.
    • When previewed, objects in the Foreground should be moving to the right and those in the Background will be moving to the left.
    • If your concept contains text & logos, they should be placed closer to the keyplane ( Middleground or Focal Point), to avoid blurriness and promote better legibility.
    • Avoid solid color background and replace with a textured background to increase depth perception.
